irot Time as an alternative to Connecteam
Connecteam has the more generous free plan — all hubs, free for up to 10 users — and we say so first because it is true and it matters. Above ten users the picture changes: clocking and time off live in two separately priced hubs, so the real bill is both of them. Prices below are in the currency each vendor publishes, dollars for them and euros for us, and we do not convert between them.
Line by line
| irot Time | Connecteam | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay | ||
| How it is billed | Per company-size bracket, one price for the whole company. | Per hub: a price covering the first 30 users, plus a per-user rate above that. |
| Free forever | Up to 3 employees, every feature except the AI assistant. | Advantage: Up to 10 users, all hubs — limited to a single time clock and a single schedule. |
| Clocking and time off together | Advantage: One price. Both are in the base plan. | Two hubs: Operations Basic $29 and HR & Skills Basic $29 a month — so $58 at 25 users, and $84 at 50 once the per-user rates above 30 are added. |
| At 25 employees | €35 a month, whole company. | $58 a month for the two Basic hubs. |
| Money back | Advantage: 60 days, no questions asked. | No refund policy is published. |
| Trial | Advantage: 30 days with everything, AI included, no card. | 14 days, no card. |
| Where your data sits | ||
| Servers | Our own servers in Germany (Hetzner, Falkenstein), under GDPR. | Not stated on the pricing page. |
| Self-hosting | Advantage: Yes — rented or bought once, with no connection back to us. | No: cloud only. |
| Separation between companies | Advantage: One application and one database per customer. | Shared cloud service. |
| Full data export | A complete ZIP any time, even without an active licence. | Not detailed on the pricing page. |
| What is in the base price | ||
| Time off policies | Leave, sickness and absence with approval, in the base plan. | Time off from Basic in the HR hub, with a limited number of policies; more policies sit higher up. |
| Clocking without a connection | With a card the clock keeps working and syncs later with the original time. | Offline clocking is offered; the detail depends on the plan. |
| Languages for staff | Twelve, each person picks their own. | Multiple languages are offered; no list is published on the pricing page. |
| Where Connecteam is ahead | ||
| The free plan | Free up to 3 employees. | Advantage: Free up to 10 users, across all hubs. For a team of eight that is simply a better deal than ours. |
| Breadth | Working time, rotas, absence, payroll export. That is the list. | Advantage: A whole deskless-workforce platform: chat, training, checklists, forms, knowledge base — things we do not build at all. |
| Mobile-first for field teams | A web app you add to the home screen, no app store. | Advantage: Established native apps and a large support organisation. |
All Connecteam figures come from connecteam.com/pricing/, retrieved on 24 September 2026. Their prices are in US dollars and each hub price covers the first 30 users, with a per-user rate above that; ours are in euros, monthly, without the annual discount. We do not convert between the two currencies anywhere on this page. irot Time prices: our pricing page. Prices may have changed since; the vendor’s own offer is what counts.
Where Connecteam is the better choice
Two cases, and both are real. First: a team of ten or fewer. Their free plan covers all hubs for up to ten users, ours covers three. If you are eight people and the free plan does what you need, take it — we would rather say that than sell you something.
Second: if you want one app for the whole deskless workforce — chat, training, checklists, forms — Connecteam does far more than we do. We only do working time and what hangs off it.
What we built irot Time for
- Companies where working time is the actual problem — records, breaks, rest periods, leave balances and a month that closes itself.
- One price for the whole company, not one price per hub plus a per-user rate on top.
- 60 days money back, which almost nobody in this market offers.
- Your data comes back out whole, as a ZIP, even without a licence.
- On your own server if you want it there — no connection back to us, licence checked offline.
- No location tracking, no activity scores. We record working time, not behaviour.
Try it without deciding anything
Our free tools run in the browser with no account: timesheet template, rota template, rest break calculator. The whole field is in the fifteen-vendor comparison.
Questions we get
Is Connecteam really free?
Yes, up to 10 users, across all hubs, with single instances of the time clock and the schedule. That is a more generous free tier than ours, which stops at 3 employees. Above ten users it is priced per hub. Source: connecteam.com/pricing/, retrieved on 24 September 2026.
What does clocking plus time off cost at Connecteam?
Both together, because they sit in different hubs: Operations Basic at $29 a month and HR & Skills Basic at $29 a month, each covering the first 30 users. At 25 users that is $58 a month; at 50, with the per-user rates above 30, $84. The hub structure is the thing worth understanding before you compare anything.
Is irot Time cheaper than Connecteam?
Below ten users, no — theirs is free and ours is free only to three. Above that we will not put a single number on it, because they bill in dollars and we bill in euros, and inventing an exchange rate to win a comparison is not something we do. Both sets of figures are above, each in its own currency; do the sum with your own bank’s rate.
Can we bring our data over from Connecteam?
People, yes — a CSV of names, staff numbers and departments, with a preview before anyone is created. For hours already recorded, whatever you can export can usually be read in. There is no one-click import. Keep the old export either way.
We are eleven people and just crossed the free limit. What now?
That is the moment worth doing arithmetic on rather than guessing. At eleven users Connecteam starts charging two hubs; we are €19 a month up to fifteen people, whole company. But if you also use their chat, training and checklists, you are not comparing the same thing any more — and then the honest answer may be to stay with them.
