A tablet by the door, and clocking is solved
The irot Time terminal is an ordinary tablet with a browser open. People clock in with a PIN or a card, in their own language, and with cards it keeps working when the internet goes down.
Why a tablet and not an expensive terminal
A traditional clocking terminal costs several hundred pounds, dates badly and has to be replaced whole when it fails. A tablet costs what a tablet costs, is swapped in ten minutes, and the software inside it updates itself. If yours breaks, pick up another one, open the same address and carry on.
How people clock in
- PIN: four digits on a large keypad. In, out, break.
- Card: hold the card to the reader and go. It is the fastest thing when twenty people arrive at once, and the only method that works with no connection.
- In their own language: the screen switches to that person's language as they identify themselves. On mixed teams that removes most clocking mistakes.
What else the screen shows
- The hours balance and the remaining holiday, so nobody has to ask.
- A prompt before a rest break is missed, rather than a telling-off next month.
- Messages from the office, for people with no work e-mail address.
- Holiday requests, straight from the terminal.
What you need
- A tablet with a browser and a wall mount. Nothing else is compulsory.
- For cards: a USB or NFC reader and the cards themselves, a few pounds a head.
- Wi-Fi, unless you use cards, which work without it.
We do not tie the hardware to the software: buy it wherever you like. The terminal is part of the base plan, not an add-on.

Does any tablet work?
Any tablet with a browser, Android or iPad, including a second-hand one. All it really needs is a wall mount and a socket nearby. You do not have to buy hardware from us.
What happens when the internet drops?
With cards, clocking carries on. The punches are held on the device and go up on their own when the connection comes back, with nobody having to do anything.
Can someone clock in for a colleague?
With a PIN, as with any PIN system, a PIN can be shared — which is why the device and the exact time of every punch are recorded. With a physical card the risk is the risk of the card. We do not use fingerprints or faces, and this page explains why.
