The rota, done in a sitting rather than an evening
The rota module drafts next week's shifts already knowing who is on holiday, who needs a rest, and how many people you want on at each part of the day. You correct what you like and publish.
What the draft already accounts for
- Approved holiday, sickness and other absence: it does not roster people who are not there.
- The minimum rest period between shifts, so a late close is never followed by an early open.
- The staffing levels you set per slot: two in the kitchen at lunch, one behind the bar in the afternoon.
- Contracted hours: somebody on twenty does not end up with thirty-five.
- Shift preferences people have registered, as far as they fit.
Shift swaps between colleagues
The classic "any chance you can take Saturday?" over WhatsApp gets lost, gets misread and ends with nobody turning up. Here one person offers the shift, another takes it, and management approves it or lets it run, depending on how you set it up. The rota updates itself and everyone can see it.
From rota to clocking, with nothing retyped
The planned shift and the hours actually clocked live in the same place, so planned against actual falls out by itself, with no exporting and no reconciling spreadsheets. At month end, night, Sunday and public-holiday premiums are already calculated on the real hours, ready for payroll.

Questions we get
Does the automatic draft decide on its own?
No. It proposes, and you change whatever you want before publishing. What it saves you is the first draft, and it flags the clashes: someone on holiday, a rest period that is too short, a shift with nobody in it.
Can staff swap shifts between themselves?
Yes, if you allow it. One offers a shift, another takes it, and management either approves it or lets it through automatically, depending on how you set it up. It is all recorded, so nobody argues afterwards about who said what.
Do people find out when the rota changes?
Yes. Anyone with a phone sees it in the app, and anyone without sees it on the tablet when they clock in. Nobody learns about a change from a piece of paper that is no longer on the wall.
