Why is 7:30 not 7.30?
Because a clock counts in base 60 and payroll counts in base 10. Seven and a half hours is 7.5 decimal hours, not 7.30. It is the most expensive and most common mistake when hours go into a spreadsheet: thirty minutes silently becomes eighteen.
Which format does payroll want?
Almost always decimal hours, because it multiplies hours by an hourly rate. Send 7:30 and let the spreadsheet read it as 7.30 and you are twelve minutes out per person per day.
Is anything I type stored?
